This small tote bag is crafted from aso-ofi. The small size double-handled silhouette has a top handle and detachable shoulder strap.m, that can be worn cross-shoulder or over the shoulder.

We are happy to introduce our mini tote bags made out of hand-selected aso-ofi produced by local west African artisans. We work with a local cooperative of women traders to source the most exclusive prints to produce a very limited number of pieces.
As fabrics are artisanal and hand made, fabric and color imperfections are possible and add to the uniqueness of each handbag rather than representing a defect or fault.
Aso-Ofi, a finely woven cloth is deeply saturated a natural dye made from a wild plant used to cloth throughout much of sub Saharan West Africa for at least 1,000 years. It is the woven on an upright loom by a weaver. In the past such cloths were worn by chiefs throughout the western Yoruba region as a sign of political office. The weaving process is hectic and takes days, from sorting the raw cotton or synthetic fibres to combing, spinning and warping — all done manually!
